一众英国演员出演的英式主旋律影片，以殖民者的角度，刻意美化了英国在南亚的侵略与恶行，所以基于这一点，我不会给出太高的分数。回到影片本身，前半段的感情戏真的很失败，想演绎乱世儿女情长，最终呈现出来的是恶俗狗血的三角恋。后半段导演终于想起来这是一部战争片，还好，费尽心力营造的大场面总算没有让人太失望。
“银幕三角恋”无人能出柯蒂兹之右，埃罗尔·弗林和奥利维亚·德哈维兰的第二次银幕之恋出现了“第三者”，让观众无比煎熬，结尾宏大的骑兵队冲锋场面十分震撼。
